Tasso is Blood Draws Without the Jab 🩸

Tasso empowers patients to collect their own blood samples at home. It aims to put an end to venous draws or inconvenient lab visits. Watch the Tasso+ Kit video to see it in action

KEY FEATURES

  • Tasso+ Device: A blood lancet for whole liquid blood samples.
  • Tasso-M20: Collects dried blood samples for clinical trials.

PROS AND CONS

Pros:

  • Almost Painless: The lancet is much less painful than a traditional needle.
  • Convenient: Collect your blood sample at home, on your own schedule.
  • Empowering Patients: Tasso puts you in control of your blood draw experience.

Cons:

  • Not for Everyone: Not suitable for persons with certain conditions or fear of blood might.
  • Initial Learning Curve: There’s a learning curve to using the Tasso kit, but it’s generally user-friendly.
  • Doctor’s Orders Still Matter: Tasso doesn’t replace your doctor’s expertise. They’ll still need to order your blood tests and interpret the results.

HOW DOES TASSO WORK?

  • First, you stick the adhesive side to your arm.
  • Once the button is secure, you press it down. This triggers a spring-loaded mechanism.
  • Pressing the button activates a tiny lancet (like a super-thin needle) that pricks your skin just enough to draw a small amount of blood.  It’s designed to be almost painless, similar to a mosquito bite.
  • The blood drawn by the lancet is then collected in a small vial attached to the Tasso button.
  • The vial is designed to store the blood sample safely and securely until it’s ready to be shipped back to a lab for analysis.

WHO IS IT FOR?

  • Clinical research organisations.
  • Academic medical centers.
  • Anyone seeking hassle-free blood collection.

SHOULD PHLEBOTOMISTS BE WORRIED?

Tasso complements phlebotomists, it doesn’t replace them. It caters to specific needs, while phlebotomists remain crucial for complex blood draws or patients who need assistance.

CHALLENGES WITH TASSO

  • Cost and Insurance Coverage: Tasso kits might not be covered by all insurance plans yet.
  • Not a Universal Solution: Tasso might not be suitable for everyone or every blood test.

THE FUTURE OF TASSO BLOOD DRAWS

Imagine a future where:

  • As the technology matures, Tasso kits could become more affordable and widely accessible.
  • Tasso offers the possibility of analyzing samples at home.

Tasso is a small but significant step towards a more convenient and potentially less stressful blood draw experience.
