Neko Health is Here to Catch Them Early

There is a new healthcare kid on the block in London, and everyone is talking about it! From Sky News, Dr Nik to TechCrunch. The good news is, it is worth every once of the hype. Neko Health has created a healthcare service focused on preventative measures and early detection. By enabling users to walk-into their facility and walk-out an hour later with a full body scan, blood work, immediate results and actionable insights, it is designed to benefit individuals who are proactive about their health.

So if you are:

  • at risk for chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and skin cancer.
  • health conscious and want to stay ahead of potential health issues

Neko Health is for you.

Neko Health launched on February 2, 2023, in Regeringstan 61, Stockholm, Sweden. It has also expanded to London. Its health center in London opened on September 4, 2024, and it is located in Marylebone at 9 St Vincent Street, London.

Early detection is important

Neko Health takes early detection very seriously because it often leads to better treatment outcomes for the individual. For example, certain cancers are treatable when caught early.

Another reason why early detection is important to Neko Health is because it is cheaper. Diseases are less expensive to treat at their early stage. When they are at their advanced stage, treatment costs too much money.

Neko Health uses its Neko Body Scan technology to catch health issues early. The body scan uses over 70 sensors to collect 50 million data points in just a few minutes. This technology can detect minute changes in the body such as skin changes or the appearance of moles on the body.

Once the data is collected it is analyzed using AI algorithms to identify patterns or anomalies that are indicative of potential health issues. Once the scan is done, patients receive an in-person consultation with a doctor to discuss their results. The entire experience is designed to be pleasurable with soft music and a modern furniture design. Its like a spa appearance, not the usual doom and gloom hospital vibe.

A Future with Neko Health

Neko Health is currently doing collaborative care because they already work with doctors who discuss the results of the Neko Body Scan with patients.

So a future where Neko Health is integrated with existing electronic health records (EHR) systems is not that far off because it is an excellent way for doctors to have the full picture of their patient’s health.

The People Behind Neko Health

Neko Health was co-founded in 2018 by Hjalmar Nilsonne and Spotify‘s Daniel Ek. They have Klaus Hommels and Niklas Zennström from Lakestar and Atomic, respectively. Hjalmar Nilsonne, CEO, comes from a family of doctors. He holds an MSc in Industrial Engineering from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and spent the 10 years before Neko Health working on the transition to a renewable energy system.

Daniel Ek is the founder of Spotify. He has had a long-standing interest in health. In 2018, after Spotify’s IPO, he was looking to make a meaningful impact on the world and was searching for a company that could do for healthcare what Spotify did for music, but he couldn’t find anything that matched his vision.

At the same time, he learned that Hjalmar was leaving his company, Watty, and reached out to him. Initially, Hjalmar was reluctant to get involved; having grown up in a family of doctors, he had deliberately chosen a different path and was hesitant to enter a field that echoed his family’s profession. However, after several months of discussions and careful consideration, Daniel convinced Hjalmar to embark on this new venture together. This marked the beginning of Neko Health.
